Congrats to Dan Semlow for winning the MGCB Award for Outstanding Work in the Field of Cell and Molecular Biology!

Former Staley Lab graduate student Dan Semlow, along with former Kovar Lab graduate student Jon Winkelman, were awarded the UChicago CMB Program's Award for Outstanding Work in the Field of Cell and Molecular Biology.

Dan's graduate student work on how the DEAH-box ATPases Prp16 and Prp22 work to remodel the pre-mRNA substrate and activate alternative splice sites was recently published in Cell. He's currently doing a postdoctoral fellowship in the Walter Lab at Harvard Medical School.
